Moss M. Arnold began to share his knowledge and wisdom in his first amazing book -

Chi-Reflexology Guidelines for the Middle Way, (we can highlight this publication in a future blog).

A few years of professional training soon brought to light that something was missing for Reflexologists. It naturally led to a book being developed, (from a section of Moss' Australian College of Chi-Reflexology Training notes), to bridge the gap for a basic understanding of the Middle Way, for Reflexologists and foot therapists.

Reflexology - Basics of the Middle Way book has helped Reflexologists to see a completely different picture, apply simple adjustments to techniques and see great responses from their clients. It answered so many questions about Clinical Reflexology, Moss presented the information in an easy, informative and logical style but was also thought provoking. It led the way to many changes, which we see today in different styles of Advanced Reflexology.

J. Munro Reflexology Trainer

“What I love most about Moss is his ability to speak passionately about Reflexology and its application, his dedication to giving only the best treatment and the respect that he affords everyone while being pragmatic enough to say ‘if you don’t agree with me then throw it out’. He is also extremely generous with his information and has given much of his work and knowledge away for free”………
“This book goes back to basics but is in no way a basic book. Moss has an honest approach to everything and this book tells it like it is. Starting at the beginning is always helpful and this book looks at the client approach in terms of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, but goes further and also explains why.
This, for me, is something that can often be left out of other books and is the one question I am always left asking: but why am I doing it like this?”……..

Clinical Reflexology: Basics of the Middle Way Book by Moss M. Arnold

Are there questions you have about Reflexology that you have never been able to find answers to? Questions such as –

1. Is the sole/plantar surface of the feet, the front or back of the body?

2. Is the dorsal surface of the feet, the back or the front of the body?

3. Why there is only the spine and spinal cord on the medial aspect of the feet?

Is this not inside the body? Can you not access the bi-lateral organs of the body on the medial aspect of the feet?

4. Why there are two Solar Plexi reflexes on the feet and yet one in the body?

5. Why there are two Pituitary gland reflexes on the feet and one in the body?

6. Whether the heart reflex is on the left foot only, or both feet?

7. As the Liver and Pancreas are bilateral, Why are they not on both feet?

8. Why the Bladder reflex is not further down in the heel area (pelvic region), and at the same time the length of the urethra on the foot is longer than it is in the body?

9. Is the spine at the back of the body or the front of the body (feet)?

10. Why the divisions of the feet are all body divisions except the Heel Line?

Where is the Heel Line?

11. Why the Groin is on the dorsal surface of the feet with the Back Reflexes?

12. Why the Fallopian tube is longer on the feet than it is on the body, and doesn’t connect to the ovary or the uterus?

13. Why the male Reproductive reflexes are in the same place as the female in the feet and yet are clearly not physically in the same place in the body?

14. Why the shoulder and arm reflex is so small?

15. Why the leg reflex does not connect to the heel/pelvic region on the feet?

16. Where is the forearm and hand on the feet?

17. Where are the feet on the feet?

18. Where are all the other structures of the body on the feet?

Such questions and others led me on a journey that has resulted in my second book, “Reflexology: Basics of the Middle Way” where you will find answers to these and other such questions, and more importantly a new approach to the science of Reflexology based upon a consistent perspective of the feet, which I call the Anatomical Reflection Theory, that is, put simply, the two feet reflect the body, not only anatomically accurately but also proportionately accurately.

Basically, if the feet reflect the body accurately then it must also be proportionate, based on the foot/feet is approximately 6 times smaller than the body, or put another way, the reflexes are approximately one-sixth the side of the physical components of the body.

As there were no answers that I could find to these inconsistencies, I threw out what I was taught and went on a journey searching for the chi, energies and acu-points of the body through the feet. The result is Chi-Reflexology, an approach that can do a full treatment within minutes.

A revolutionary and radical philosophical and ethical approach to the science of Reflexology and the irony of this journey is that it led me back to how accurate the feet actually are.

Because of my background in Chinese History and philosophy, Chi-Reflexology is a point approach, and it does not work all the reflexes but rather pin-points an imbalance specifically and accurately.

To do this, one must understand the reflection you are working with, and so over the years I have mapped the feet and become more and more specific and accurate, and thus this new work.

It is the first attempt to place Reflexology on a more solid base by critically analysing the original and to propose a consistent perspective of the feet. This work also critically analyses the current theories of Reflexology and proposes new insights into how the feet work.

You will be challenged through reading this work, to question what you do, how you do it, why you do it and to make conscious decisions, through detailed explanations of these questions.

The Don’ts of Reflexology as well as the contraindications or Safety Precautions are also for the first time critically analysed, and perhaps most controversial, the issue of diagnosing is examined and brought out into the light of day.

This work is also the first to map each of the systems of the body accurately through the feet based upon the Anatomical Reflection Theory, which has resulted in a new far-more detailed physical Foot chart. A huge step forward.

There are four Sections (plus five appendices) and 30 Chapters in this 400 page book: Section 1 – Foot Reflexology Theory; Section 2 – Reflexology Techniques, Section 3 – Systemic Approach to Reflexology, and Section 4 – Receivers of Reflexology.

Knowledge is power. Thus knowledge needs to be shared and accessed to expand. But knowledge on its own is lifeless and dead. It is through understanding that we can bring Reflexology alive and let it live and grow to its full potential.

Thus this work begins the process of establishing a more solid foundation upon which others will build. This foundation is so necessary so that we do not produce mechanical robots, but independent, free-thinking Reflexologists who tailor each treatment to the needs of the individual – the mechanic verses the artist.

FEET FIRST – I touch. I feel. I think. I am.
