– Located in Findern, South Derbyshire.

I was browsing through a book shop in Derby over 23 years ago and picked up a

book on Reflexology which I started to read, it looked interesting. I had heard of

Reflexology before but didn’t know a lot about it as my mother who has suffered for

years with arthritis was a member of an Arthritis Care group where she experienced

it, really enjoyed it and it helped her.

I stood for a few minutes reading through the book and purchased it (not sure if I still have it and the authors name escapes me).

After reading the book, I was so interested I wanted to learn more.

I searched for courses in my area and came across the International Institute of Reflexology, there was a course running in Nottingham, I contacted the tutor and reserved my place.

I qualified in 2004 and have been providing treatments ever since.

Over the years I attended many Reflexology courses to enhance my training but a

couple of years ago things changed which opened a whole new insight to my

reflexology knowledge.

The AOR East Midlands group, that I attend from time to time, were running a course

titled ‘Energy and the Spine’ presented by Chi Medics and I enrolled on the course.

What a thoroughly enjoyable day I had learning the Chi Medics approach which is

based upon Chinese Philosophy including aspects of Classical Chinese Medicine

(CCM).

It felt like a doorway swung open, revealing an entirely new reflexology world I never knew existed and I needed to know more..

Fortunately, the lady I was paired up with during the training day was, the most,

passionate, enthusiastic and knowledgeable Chi Medics Practitioner, Amanda

Johnson. Thankfully, I kept in touch with Amanda and she constantly sang Chi

Medics praises, her passion was so strong that it encouraged me to do the training.

I am truly grateful to Amanda and forever in her debt as she kept Chi Medics alive in

my mind.

I enrolled on the Chi Medics Practitioner training course in 2024 and can honestly say it was one of the best years of my life and to this day I still miss the training.

Every lesson was rich with knowledge, anecdotes and wisdom from Moss and Sharon’s years of experience.

Moss is someone I could listen to endlessly, thank goodness I still have him on some recordings! His zest for Chi Medics is infectious and his knowledge just blows my mind.

Sharon is a fabulous teacher and her explanations are very clear and concise, she is extremely helpful and is always available on the end of the phone. This I found very reassuring throughout the whole practitioner training.

I qualified in June 2025 as a Chi Medics Practitioner, what a way to celebrate 21

years as a Reflexologist.

I use the techniques in my practice, my clients love the Chi Medics approach and are amazed at how powerful it is, one of my clients recently said

30th January 2026
“I absolutely love my Chi Medics treatments with Claire and always look forward to them. My immune system has been fantastic with regular treatments and they have also hugely helped in post recovery where regular therapy wasn’t helping much”.

I can truly say that my passion for reflexology has been refreshed and revived having

trained in Chi Medics. I see many people suffering health issues due to their inability

to switch off from work-place demands and in a world shaped by technology and

pressure, it appears that stress and anxiety is having a detrimental impact on

people’s lives. I feel Chi-Reflexology is a perfectly suited to the times and I get such

joy and satisfaction when my clients go out the door feeling much better than when

they walked in, it is so rewarding.

I would encourage everyone to try Chi Medics. I’m so grateful I wandered into that bookshop all those years ago—and equally grateful that my path crossed with Moss and Sharon’s. It feels like my reflexology journey has come full circle, and yet in many ways, it’s only just beginning!

What’s next for me?

I’m delighted to share that I am now part of the Chi Medics Presenters team. This new role gives me the opportunity to deliver Chi Medics training to qualified reflexologists and therapists, helping to expand awareness and understanding of this powerful approach.

One of the first offerings I’ll be presenting is a newly developed course by Sharon Windle.

A Gateway via the Feet: Chi Medics Essentials

For Gateway Courses please visit www.chi-medics.com

This training focuses on practical application, including Chi-Reflexology Clinical Reflexes and key Acu Points.

It provides an ideal introduction to Chi Medics and offers an accessible way for passionate practitioners to experience how effective, consistent and transformative this work can be.

This one day training is designed to build an appreciation of the Chi Medics method that can enhance and broaden a therapist’s existing skills. Participants will explore the Chi Medics approach to working with energy, along with the principles of balance in both theory and practice.

The day also introduces how to integrate the Chi Medics balance method into therapeutic sessions to enrich outcomes and deepen client support.

I'm looking forward to sharing the Chi Medics approach with other practitioners!

Hope to see you on a course!
